Japanese company Mazda announced the start of batch production of the electric crossover MX-30 at the plant in Hiroshima and revealed the European prices of their first pure electric vehicle, which is already available for sale.
According to available information, in Germany the basic version of the MX-30 First Edition will cost 27.4 thousand euros which is relatively cheap, while cars from the following batches will cost 33.5 thousand euros. At the same time, the Tesla Model 3 vehicles are sold in Germany at the price of 44 thousand euros, and the Volkswagen ID.3 electric car, which has not yet entered the market, costs from 30 thousand euros, but will be first released for sale in more expensive versions. Consequently, the Mazda MX-30 has good potential to gain popularity among European car buyers who will receive their ordered new cars this fall.
Mazda introduced its first production electric car at the Tokyo Motor Show last autumn. The MX-30 crossover is in the Mazda lineup between the CX-3 and CX-5. Differential features of the crossover are small suicide doors opening to the opposite of movement direction. This solution was previously used on the Mazda RX-8 sports car, which was produced from 2003 to 2012.
The electric system of the Mazda MX-30 consists of the electric motor with a capacity of 143 Cavalli and a block of 35.5 kWh lithium-ion batteries, which allows it to travel up to 200 kilometers without recharging. Such a quite modest drive range is set due to environmental concern. The batteries can be charged at a special station from 0 to 80% in 40 minutes.
Thus, its price and technical features altogether make this new car a decent option for those car buyers who support environmental protection but are not ready yet to pay some extra cost for an eco-friendly vehicle compared to the cost of traditional cars with a fuel engine. However, to make electric cars even more attractive their average price needs to further drop and get in line with the prices for fuel vehicles, which will still prevail, especially on the used car market, since electric cars are quite new and thus at least few years will pass before there will be some decent second-hand market for those.
There are generally two types of car people: those that love cars and those that simply drive cars. However, there is one car brand that manages to polarise people to such an extent that they form an entirely new group, namely ones that loathes a specific brand. That brand? Those who own a BMW love ...
Back when I was at university, I overheard a classmate loudly share his experience of various cars up to that point in his life. While most of his stories have faded away with the passing of time, one nugget managed to stick around in memory. “Do you know what Ford stands for?” he asked his ...
Shhh! Do you hear that? That deep, thunder-like growl rolling across the Namib desert? Can you see where it’s coming from? No? Is it coming at you from all sides? Yes? Well, chances are that you are likely in the belly of the beast. Or, rather, stuck behind the wheel of (or at the very least a ...
